Paula Radcliffe, who is a 18 -year -old Marathon, is watching her daughter Isla, which makes her three generations of family run the famous race in the capital

ISLA is running the daughter of Paula Radcliffe, her first marathon in London at the age of 18. However, her famous mother – who won the same race during a decorated profession – wanted to wait first year.

ISLA, which will be one of the smallest competitors, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of thirteen. Her experience and recovery inspired her to run for charitable children with cancer in the United Kingdom, and spoke to BBC about her decision to run this year instead of waiting anymore.

“Last year I was here and saw the atmosphere and it was a little bit on a whim,” Isla told the introduction Gabi Logan. “I just wanted to manage it, be part of the atmosphere, and it is also clear to the charity.

When asked about Paula's advice, the answer was honest. “She said that next year!” The teenager continued. “It is like” you need a year to study, and this may be very early, “but I wanted to be eighteen years of age and be the youngest, and to be like a child to do so.”

ISLA also indicated that it may have been slightly lower than it might be. “I am not really. I lack training, but it will be fine, hoping,” she added.

Paula got to know that her daughter may not have done the level of preparation that she might have done in her runs as the elite competitor, but this was not important. She said: “The only thing we know with Ilaa is when she puts her mind to do something, she will go to it by 100 percent.”

“Yes, she could have done more training, and she could have been more willing, but I am very proud of it because of facing this challenge and its vision.

“In fact, Ella was the one who now indicated to me 40 years since my father was running and watched Ingrid Christiansen recorded this world record and inspired the operation of the marathon. It has been 10 years since I retired, it has been 20 years since I identified the only world for women in 2005, and now it has become the completion of three generations.”

A record number of contestants went to the ballot of Marathon London 2025, with more than 840,000 people. It represented an increase of more than a quarter of a million in the previous year's ballot.

It is estimated that about 56,000 contestants will start the race in southeast London, and that the vast majority of those who start the race will continue to finish it. In addition to these contestants who succeeded in voting, thousands of other charities will run for charities.

There is also a strong elite field, consisting of these athletes who pay to win the event. The late Kelvin Kibtom holds the men's record for this event at a time of 2:01:25 in 2023, while Paula Radcliffe 2:15:25 – in 2003 edition – women's record remains.
