Newcastle Edi -Haw coach says it is unlikely that midfielder Goynton will play again this season due to a knee injury.
With leaving four games to play, his absence could be a major blow to Newcastle in their pursuit of the Champions League.
Magpies is currently in third in the Premier League table, but only two points separated from Nutingham Forest in sixth place.
Joelment, 28, was absent from his victory over Epswich, and Hao said he had returned home to Brazil.
“With Joe, you have never excluded him. He is very excited to try to return,” Hau said.
“We have searched for a specialized opinion, and the opinion was that it was not a dangerous thing but he needed a rest period, so it is now in Brazil.
“We will wait and see whether we can restore it before the end of the season, but it is more likely not the possibility.”
Luis Miley, Shan Longstax and Joe Wilok are among the players in the competition to replace the Goynton store in the midfield for their journey to Brighton on Saturday.
