Enzo Maresca, Chelsea manager, says he has no doubt that the new striker Liam Dilab will become “England in the future” as he is preparing for his first time in the club's World Cup.
The 22 -year -old attacker joined a deal worth a 30 million pounds from IPSTOS earlier in June, to meet with the former director of the Manchester City Academy.
Dilab, a six -year contract in Stamford Bridge, scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League matches.
Chelsea faces Los Angeles in the opening match of the World Cup on Monday (20:00 GMT) in Atlanta.
When asked about Dilab, who withdrew from the duty of England for the U -21 European Championship to join Chelsea in the United States, Marisca said: “I said that Liam could be the number of England at nine when we faced Epsouc.
“Now he is the Chelsea player, I will say again, I have no doubt that it can be in the future of England number nine.
“We won with Manchester City's Under -23s – scored 24 and 25 goals in this season – so he knows exactly what we can give, and I know what Liam can give. It is a victory for both sides. We love Liam, Liam loves us, so it was an easy conversation.”
Dilab is among the four new players in the Chelsea squad, along with his loan, Andre Santos, the new revenue and signings of adolescence, Dario Isogo, Mamadou Sar and Mike.
But Marisca explained that Dilab will have to compete with his teammate striker Nicholas Jackson to win a starting place and refused to say whether he would start at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
He also explained, without being asked directly, that the club needs a new left wing after Chelsea paid a penalty of 5 million pounds to not sign Manchester United Gadon Sancho, adding: “Gadon is not with us. So this is certainly the position that we may need to do something.
Also because, Misha [Mudryk] Not with us. At this moment we have Noni [Madueke]Pedro [Neto] And Ty [George] As the appropriate wings. Something will definitely happen. “
The Blues is expected to revive their interest in Jimmy Gittes, Dortmund's wing, with the reopening of the transfer window on Monday, when a 42 million pounds of a pound of a 20 -year -old player was rejected before the club's World Cup.
They also took an approach to Milan goalkeeper Mike Minan, but Marisca insists that he still trusts in the likes of Robert Sanchez. “Robert is the first number, we have two Philip.
“Penders join us in the next few weeks to analyze, judge it and make a final decision. Then, for maignan or different players, I don't think it is worth talking about them.”
