After making a 999 call at around 2.30 pm, mountain rescue crews, the police helicopter, paramedics and fire sets rushed to the rural village. The drones and rescue dogs were also used to search in a desperate attempt to save Jacob.

Despite their best, Jacob was unable to save her, and after several hours, Durham police confirmed that they had pulled a body from the river. They read their statement on Friday night: “We are sorry to report that a body found in the river in Gainford this evening. It is believed that a 20 -year -old man entered the water this afternoon and difficulty.
“The official identity has not been determined yet, but the man's family has been informed and supported by specialized officers. We would like to thank all our emergency services partners for their help.”
While the police did not officially identify the body as the 20 -year -old from Darlington, Durham County, the GoFundme page created by Jacob noted that he was Jacob.
The page was prepared to raise money for his funeral and a common tragic message on the page Reading: “As many of you have already heard, our family lived what cannot be conceived. This devastating loss has left our entire family disjointed behind the words. It was a son, a brother, a lover – and above all, it was a beautiful spirit very soon.
