Actors, Brian Cox, Mark Rovalo and Bill Niger
Celebrities, Brian Cox, Mark Rovalo and Bill Negi, defended Kiir Starmer to do more to a prisoner in prison for her amazing mother for her life.
The trio is among the supporters – including the star of Harry Potter Emily Watson and actor Joseph Venice – who wrote to the Prime Minister demanding the most striking work to secure the freedom of Alaa Abdel -Fateh.
They warned that “time is after” to save his mother, Dr. Laila Suef, who was accepted at St. Thomas Hospital in London last week. The pro -democracy writer Alaa is behind bars in Egypt, despite the end of the severe prison sentence in September last year.
Dr. Suef, who has not eaten for 246 days, has lost more than seven stone, and has a dangerous blood decrease. The paramedics warn that the 69 -year -old is at risk of sudden death as her condition exacerbates.

In their message, the supporters told the Prime Minister that they were “watching with panic, as Dr. Laila Suef risked death to save her son.” The message continues: “Alaa should not be imprisoned in the first place. He is an internationally respected writer and a brave defender of democracy. He has now lost ten years of his life to the prison cell. The last prison sentence ended on September 29, 2024 – however he is still behind the bars.”
And they concluded the following: “The Prime Minister, we ask you to take bold and immediate action to save her life and reunify Alaa with his family. It is too late.”
The Caliphate Star, Mr. Cox, was invited by the Prime Minister to “pick up the phone” to the Egyptian Abdel -Faih Al -Sisi and negotiate the release of Alaa. The actor Hulk Mr. Ruffalo is a long supporter of the campaign to liberate it.
Alaa was sentenced to five years in prison in 2019 due to “deploying fake news” after criticizing the Egyptian government. His family is desperate to return him to the United Kingdom, where he has a 13 -year -old son, Khaled, who lives in Brighton.
Dr. Suef told me on Sunday: “Mr. Starmer, you told me that you are committed to doing everything to secure the release of Alaa, but Alaa is still in prison, so it is clear that what you do is not the best thing to do.” Radio LBC told: “I said from the beginning, I will continue until Alaa is launched or my health completely collapses.”
She met Mr. Starmer in February, when the Prime Minister gave his “personal commitment” to secure the release of Alaa. He spoke to the Egyptian president twice to pressure him to be released.
The United Nations said last week that Aala is arbitrarily detained – which leads to a commitment to Egypt to be released directly under international law. “We are very concerned about entering at night in the hospital,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said.
“We are still in regular contact with the family of night and we examined its well -being. We are committed to securing the release of Alaa Abdel -Fateh.
“The Foreign Minister stressed the situation in an invitation with his counterpart on Sunday morning, and further participation in the highest levels of the Egyptian government.”
