New Jersey Governor Fil Murphy, a call to President Donald Trump to attend the club's World Cup final held at Metlife Stadium next month.
Murphy was attending an event for one year until the 2026 World Cup-which was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico-when he mentioned a conversation with the president.
“I spoke to the president on Saturday night, and I invited him to the club's World Cup final,” Murphy said as part of an answer about the dialogue between the Trump administration and the New York/New Jersey hostess committee, which organizes the World Cup efforts in the region.
While Murphy said he extended the invitation, the ruler explained that “I am not sure that he could come.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for suspension from the post.
The club's World Cup, which is the 32 teams of the best teams from the local league championships around the world, will start on Saturday night with a match between Inter Miami and Al Ahly in Miami.
Metlife Stadium will host nine games during the club's World Cup this summer, including the quarter -finals match, and half the semi -finals, which will be played on July 13.
Murphy praised the group stage matches, where the first Metlife game for the tournament was a competition between the Brazilian club Palra and the Portuguese party FC Porto.
“I think we will have between 40 to 50,000 people for the start of the match, which will be really great,” said Murphy.
The tournament is, in some way, dry for the main event for the next year, which will play in 11 cities in the United States and five in Canada and Mexico.
During a Wednesday star Park event in Jersey City, Murphy expressed his confidence that the World Cup matches next year in the New York/New Jersey will be “a success for the explosion and the secure World Cup.”
