He said: “After three years of war, Russian gross domestic product is about 10 to 12 percent of pre -invasion trends.
“The available personal income is 20 to 25 percent in terms of where it was without conflict.
“When the inflation rate is combined with local interest rates in Russia, which is about 20 percent, as well as all other factors, loss of foreign currency reserves, escalating business, decrease in real estate prices, and increasing difficulties in bank transactions – Russia's economy seems very weak.
“The problem is that Russia still gets money across the back door, and the back door is Asia.
“Frankly, China makes a lot of what Russia needs, and they can buy a lot of what Russia sells. So China has effectively stopped the bleeding imposed by the sanctions.
“Kazakhstan is an example. Kazakhstan ships hundreds of millions of US dollars from electronic devices to Russia. So there is another pipeline.”
