Nutingham striker Forest Tayo Aouni in a coma is desirable after the first stage of surgery was performed in a serious abdominal injury.

The 27-year-old Nigerian international collided with the list of the list in the 88th minute of a 2-2 draw against Leicester on the city's land on Sunday while trying to reach the end of the cross from Anthony Elanga.

He performed a surgery on Monday night and remains in the hospital, where the rest of the procedure was completed on Wednesday.

In a statement earlier on Tuesday, Forest said that Aoni was “well recovering” after the operation.

After the accident on Sunday, he received treatment on the field and was able to continue but was clearly struggling when the match was restarted.

Ouni, who joined Forest from Union Berlin in June 2022, was not on the field for only five minutes, after it came as a late alternative to Ibrahim Sanjari.

The owner Evangelos Marinakis moved to the field after the match to express his concern to director Nuno Espirito Santo on how to treat Awoniyi injury.

On Tuesday, Forest said that the injury of Uonayi was “a strong reminder of the physical dangers in the game and why the player's health and well -being should always come first.”
