Thailand, the new film agency in Thailand, confirmed that the country is re -launching the Bangkok International Film Festival on a large scale in January 2026.
Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Chairman of the National Committee for Soft Energy Development in Thailand, announced the news during the Marx Committee, which was also defined by a vision of Thakka to support the vibrant Thai film industry.
Although the exact dates have not been announced yet, the festival that was revived will be held in the second week of January, as it ends before the Sandans Film Festival began on January 22.
The Thai producer and critic Donsaron Kovitvanitcha, the director of the International Film Festival in Bangkok, will be the art director of the new event, which will include a section for international films and a separate program for Thai films. “The international audience can see what is going on in Thai cinema through a full collection of dominant films,” Dungaron explained.
This event will also be composed of the market and industry headed by the Thai producer and director Pantham Thongsang, which will also include promotion sessions and workshops throughout the year.
Meanwhile, a broader Thai cultural event will be held, displaying all aspects of Thai creative industries, including films, food and fashion, in Bangkok in July.
Also during the THACA committee, Dr. Surapong identified the advantages of work with Thailand, which includes a 30 % production discount, experienced crews, actors, emerging managers and post -vibrant production sector. He also participated that Thailand is in the process of negotiating a series of joint production treaties.
“We have an increasing creative power, along with a strong partnership between the public and private sectors. We also have talent, competitive costs and global level stories,” said Dr. Surabung.
