The right-back in England confirmed that he will leave the Premier League champion Liverpool at the end of the season.
The 26 -year -old, who was in the club since he was six years old, is outside the contract on June 30, and is expected to join Real Madrid.
“After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, it's now time to confirm that I will leave at the end of the season,” Alexander Arnold announced on social media.
“This is easily the most difficult decision I made in my life.”
Alexander-Arnold was one of three high-level players whose deals in Anfield run out this summer, but while Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dick have signed new contracts in recent weeks, Alexander Arnold will leave.
Liverpool defender has achieved 352 games and scored 23 goals for the club since his appearance in 2016.
He helped them win the title of this season under Slot, and also won the Premier League under the leadership of the former director of Reds Jurgen Klopp in 2019-20.
Another prizes with Liverpool also include the Champions League in 2018-19, 2022 Cup and League Cup.
“This club was my whole life – my whole world – 20 years ago,” added Alexander Arnold.
“From the Academy so far, the support and love that I felt from every person inside and outside the club will remain with me forever. I will be debtor to you all.
“But I never knew anything else, and this decision is about facing a new challenge, and I remove myself from my comfort zone and pushing myself professionally and personally.”
Liverpool said Alexander Arnold “will leave with our gratitude and appreciation for his contribution during a period of sustainable success.”
