Columbia University has violated the Civil Rights Law by “acting with deliberate indifference to the student's harassment of students from Jewish students” since the beginning of the Israeli war, Hamas, the Trump administration claimed on Thursday.
“The results are carefully documenting that Jewish students of the hostile environment at Colombia University have had to bear more than 19 months, which disrupts their education, safety and well -being,” announced by Anthony Archiv, the Civil Rights Office at HHS.
The investigation found that Colombia is accused of failing to protect Jewish students from discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin as of October 7, 2023, through a present – violates Chapter VI of the Civil Rights Law of 1964.
The results included that Colombia has failed to “investigate or punish sabotage in its semesters, which includes the frequent drawing of the swinging cross and other internationally recognized hate forms”, and “did not” create reports and effective treatment mechanisms for anti -Semitism until the summer of 2024 “.
“We encourage the University of Colombia to work with us to reach an agreement that reflects meaningful changes that really protect Jewish students,” said Archival.

On Thursday, Colombia Axius told “she is committed to combating anti -Semitism” in response to the investigation.
“We understand that this result is part of our ongoing discussions with the government,” said a spokesman for the perpetrator.
“Colombia is deeply committed to combating anti -Semitism and all forms of harassment and discrimination in our university campus. We take these issues seriously and we will work with the Ministry of Health and Humanitarian Services and the Ministry of Education to address them.”
HHS did not include any new measures against the university.
In March, the Trump administration announced that it had canceled $ 400 million in federal scholarships on “the failure of the Ivy Legue School to protect Jewish students from anti -Semitic harassment.”
The cancellation of financing comes more than a year after the incidents that included widespread protests, anti -Semitic harassment in the wake of the attack on Israel, and the warfare of the war in Gaza.
The demonstrators descended in Colombia and set up a city of Tent at the end of the spring in 2024 and later occupied the historic Hamilton Hall building before it was expelled by NYPD.
In response, Colombia announced that it will cooperate with the matter, as it has put many changes in politics in line with the list of reforms required by a joint workplace composed of the Ministry of Education, Public Services Department, Health Services and Humanitarian Services.
Among the changes, the university has banned all facial covers on the campus “for the purpose of hiding the identity of the individual in committing violations of university policy or government, municipal or federal laws.”
