La Liga said on Wednesday that five people were handed over a suspended prison sentence for his racist abuse in Vinicius Junior in an “unprecedented” ruling in Spain.
The highest section of Spain said it is the first time that racist insults have been condemned in a football field as a hate crime in Spain.
It seems that Vinicius, 24, was subjected to racist abuse during a match against Way Wildeld in September 2022 while he was walking in the past after being replaced at the Jose Zorilla stadium.
The Valdolide Regional Court gave the five criminals a year in prison, which was suspended, provided that they do not commit any other crime in the next three years.
They are also not allowed to attend any matches during the same period.
The court also handed over Fines for the five individuals ranging from 1080 euros (913 pounds) and 1620 euros (1,369 pounds).
“Thanks to the efforts of La Liga, which filed the complaint and initially behaved as the only special claim – which the player Vinicius and Real Madrid joined, as well as the Public Prosecutor's Office – this typical ruling was achieved,” La Liga said in a statement.
“This judicial decision represents an unprecedented milestone in combating racism in sport in Spain, where judgments have been addressed so far, behavior against moral integrity with a racist strict factor.
“The fact that this ruling explicitly indicates hate crimes associated with racist insults enhances the message that intolerance has no place in football.”
International Brazil Vinicius faced racist abuse several times during his period in Spain.
In June 2024, Vinicius said, “I am not a victim of racism. I am tormented by the racists,” after three Valencia fans were sentenced to eight months in prison for abuse in May 2023.
