Teams are rarely as bad as they seem during losing streaks (although the Chicago White Sox are putting that theory to the test in 2024). But teams are also rarely as good as they look during winning streaks.

They will take an eight-game winning streak to Madison Square Garden when they host the Utah Jazz on New Year's Day.
If this were college basketball, the good news about the hot streak would be diminished by the quality of the opponent. The Knicks have celebrated underdogs (Washington – twice – and Toronto) and severely depleted ones (Orlando – twice – and New Orleans) as well as adding quality wins over a Spurs that are not yet ready for prime time.
